Merchandise Reviews with Merch Girl

Disney Second Screen- Merch Girl’s pick for best new product from the D23 expo 2011!

Let me start off by saying that this year’s Disney D23 expo in Anaheim was merch girl Mecca! Everywhere I turned during the 3 day event there were product releases, antiques, demos, and shopping venues! So after many hours of long, exhausting research, I give you my top pick for new product release for D23 2011: Disney Second Screen!

Disney Second Screen is much more than just a product. It enables users to stream special bonus film content on either a computer or an iPad device while watching the film on a television. All you need is wireless internet, Blu-ray player/PS3, a participating Disney Blu-Ray film, and one of the devices listed above. For the demo they were showcasing the technology on the iPad, so that is what I’ll be referring to today.

Disney Fairy Tails: Magic for man’s best friend!

During my visit to the Walt Disney World Resort last spring, I was shocked to find that Disney has an entire line of pet products, called “Disney Fairy Tails”. This line consists of everything from treats, to toys, to personalized Mickey shaped dog tags! Being a dog owner and animal lover, I immediately bought everything that I could get my hands on!

I was fairly disappointed when I returned to California to find that Disneyland does not carry anything from the line, and has no plans to. My pug went crazy for the Pluto dog treats, and it wasn’t easy telling her the tin was empty and that mommy couldn’t get her another.

Joyland: A Dream Come True for Gamers Everywhere!!

The Blizzard gaming company announced today, February 23, that they are indeed building Joyland, a Blizzard game based theme park, in China. There is already a website launched for the project, unfortunate for us, it's only in Chinese. However, you can still see some fabulous concept art, like the one above, picturing the proposed Terrain of Warcraft land of the park. Other than the Warcraft land, there will be a Universe of Starcraft area, along with other lands known as the Island of Mystery, World of Legend, and the children's area which is referred to as "Moles world".

Alfred Angelo for Disneyland Fairytale Weddings

I recently had the privilege of attending the trunk show for the launch of the Disney Bridal by Alfred Angelo line at the Alfred Angelo retail store in Brea, CA. I was beyond excited, since weddings and bridal fashion have always been a passion of mine. I have followed the progress of the Disney bridal line from it’s first incarnation with designer Kirstie Kelly, and was very excited to hear that they would be partnering with Alfred Angelo for the second collection.

STARSPEEDER 1000- Sneak Preview Vehicle

“Now THIS is pod-racing.”

I was personally very excited to get my hands on the limited edition preview vehicle at Disneyland , especially since they were supposed to be a Star Wars Celebration V exclusive item, and were only sold at the event in Orlando. I was able to buy it at the Star Trader store in Tomorrowland, where it retails for $24.95.
