Alfred Angelo for Disneyland Fairytale Weddings
I recently had the privilege of attending the trunk show for the launch of the Disney Bridal by Alfred Angelo line at the Alfred Angelo retail store in Brea, CA. I was beyond excited, since weddings and bridal fashion have always been a passion of mine. I have followed the progress of the Disney bridal line from it’s first incarnation with designer Kirstie Kelly, and was very excited to hear that they would be partnering with Alfred Angelo for the second collection.
Let me first give you some background information on the Kirstie Kelly collection. It was a beautiful line, with rich couture style fabrics...and a matching couture style price tag! Also, the dresses were quite hard to get a hold of because of the limited number of Kirstie Kelly retailers. The website, Disneybridal.com, showcased all the dresses, the coordinating “maidens” bridesmaids collections, and the jewelry line, but you we’re given very little information on how to contact a store or representative in your area. There was also no pricing information. It was a rough sell for Disney, despite the beautiful craftsmanship of the gowns.
Alfred Angelo, on the other hand, is a national bridal retailer, with many locations all around the United States, and are known for being a little more “budget friendly” for brides, while still delivering reasonable quality and experience. In my personal opinion, they are a good fit for Disney.
The gowns, which can be viewed on Alfredangelo.com, are unique to each princess. After seeing them in person, I can give you a pretty good description.
“Ariel” is a romantic mermaid silhouette with lots of lace and beading and a train that flows as if you’re walking along the shoreline.
“Cinderella” is a traditional princess ballgown, with lots of glitter detail and a sweetheart neckline to make a girl feel as if she’s at a royal ball.
“Aurora” is a fabulous gown, with a large skirt, drop waist, and flower detail that really makes you feel like dancing on a cloud.
“Jasmine” is a silky, sheath style gown with gorgeous beading.
“Tiana” is a beautiful one shoulder gown with a skirt very similar to the blue gown worn in the film.
“Snow White” is a sweet and innocent a-line gown with beautiful detailing.
“Belle” is by far the most elegant gown in the collection, the gown that makes you feel most like a princess. It had the same off the shoulder straps, form fitting bodice, and huge skirt with tulle overlay, as the gown in the movie. It is a dead ringer for the gold gown worn as she’s dancing and falling in love with the beast.
My favorite part about the gowns had to be the attention to detail. For dresses that range from $699-$1,399, they look gorgeous. Not one bead was out of place, not one “cheap” looking fabric was used; I was very impressed. Disney has done this in a way that can TRULY make any girl feel like a princess. Trust me, I know, I was there for a couple hours trying on every gown more than once, and it was a dream come true. I definitely narrowed my personal choice down to two gowns, but since a certain someone of mine might be reading this post, you’ll have to ask me for my favorites in private....
The staff at the Brea store were also wonderful. I was going to have a formal interview with Nini, the manager, but as she and I were trying the different gowns on my body, and having small talk, she answered every single question I could possibly think of to ask! One thing she pointed out that stood out to me was the sizing of the dresses.
There were other girls in the store trying on the gowns as well, and every one of us had a totally different body shape, and the gowns still looked elegant. Alfred Angelo offers the gowns in sizes ranging from a 0-30, and from what I observed, most of the styles could easily be worn in any size offered. During my session with her, she also gushed about her favorites for different body types, our favorite princesses, and what we’d like to see for future collections. Every staff member I encountered there was just as sweet as could be, and I got every girls opinion on which gowns looked best on me and why. Not only did I feel like a princess, but a fashion doll as well!
For any girl who has a love for Disney, and who desires to feel that special connection to a princess on her wedding day, I highly suggest looking further into this line. It is currently slated to launch in early spring of 2011. As always, I’m here to guide you if you have any questions. Consider me your TPS fairy godmother, only instead of a magic wand, I come with instant answers to emails! (Even fairy godmothers have to get in with the times, ya know?)
For more information regarding ordering and fitting appointments, you can also visit Disneybridal.com, or contact your local Alfred Angelo store. I highly recommend the staff at the Brea, CA store, who can be reached at (714) 671-0946.
This is Lacey, your geek girl, signing out.
And remember, any girl can be a princess!
