Disney's California Adventure Park: Just around the park!
Spring Break is in full swing and it's obvious that the Disneyland Resort is a prime location for this years Spring breakers! March 31st was our first heat wave day reaching in the high 80's and its safe to say hydration and keeping cool was a popular theme in the parks. My visit brought me to the realization that Disney's California Adventure Park has more cooling features to offer park goers on hot days. The wait time for Grizzly River Run stayed steady at over 60 minutes much of the day but other attractions that offer relief from the burning spring sun include; Soaring Over California, Animation Studio, Monsters Inc, Fliks Fan Fair water fountains, It's Tough to be a Bug, Muppet Vision 3D, Tower of Terror and Disney Jr. Live.Of coarse since these AC and water induced attractions were in such high demand, there were unusually long waits for all of them.
Another scene you don't regularly see too often in the parks that were evident this day, were many First aid and security personal posted up throughout the park. For a moment I thought something must have happened until my 10 year old brought it up and made the statement that the First Aid crew must be standing around waiting for guests to drop dead from heat stroke. Extreme reasoning but not too far off base. I think one of the funniest places in the park on a hot day is the huge Mister in front of Soaring Over California. Man people could not walk by, without rushing to that area to get misted in the effort to cool off.
Construction went on as usual, which made me wonder how horrible it had to be for the workers on such a hot day. What's new in DCA? Well for this week, the ElekTRONica Stage has been moved into the Hollywood Backlot area between Off the Page and Disney Jr. The count down sign is now posted up to the left side of the Hollywood Studios sign. A crane was moved into the construction zone where Sunshine Plaza use to be. It was erected on the morning of 3/31 and we know that it was placed there to begin work on the Cathay Circle Theater replica, which will be the highlighted structure in the new DCA entrance themed to replicate old Buena Vista St. Little Mermaid Structure facade is nearingcompleted and looks beautiful. The animation studio projections are up and running again and now feature scenes form newer Disney movies as well as classics. Finally the biggest and most obvious change can be found at the Parks entrance itself. The new turnstile entrance is coming along quickly and taking shape.
Although the heat caused some discomfort for a weekly visitor such as myself, it did make for a great day to take some photos. Please be sure to check out the Gallery to see some DCA scenery on a blue skies day.
