Family Fun Weekends at Disneyland

Last weekend was the first of 8 Family Fun Weekends in Disneyland and what better theme to launch this promotion than with a Hispanic cultural celebration. Fiesta Disneyland was a pleasant surprise for any park visitor over the weekend.Located in the forgotten about Festival Arena, finding the fiesta may have been a challenge for vacationers had it not been for the surplus of staff that day walking the Frontier Land beat, letting park folks know about the festivities. As you walked the Big Thunder Trail from Frontier Land to Fantasy Land and approached the Petting Zoo area, the rhythmic sounds of trumpets and enthusiastic yells of, aye aye aye gave hint to a different kind of Disney experience. Gates to the Festival Arena, finally wide open with Cast members in colorful ponchos greeting you and gesturing warm welcomes into the Fiesta. Once through the gates your first in awe with the burst of vibrant colors and music that beckons you to the dance area in front of the stage. The only distractions keeping you from joining the lively dance celebration is the Disney Characters calling you over for a picture opp. Yes Mickey and friends joined in on the fiesta fun with some pretty great looking Mexican themed gear. The Characters were enthusiastic in their interaction with each guest as they approached for that magical snap shot. There were a few vending carts and appropriately a very busy churro cart. The use of space for the Fiesta was perfect with plenty of room for the kids to run around while the big kids could just sit and chillax while soaking up the Fiesta atmosphere. There were carts with Hispanic arts and crafts and oh did I mention there was music and dancing. Entertainment was provided by a local Folklorico Troop who did an awesome job getting everyone out to shake some maracas and be part of the Fiesta festivities. Disney also went all out and had well known band, Mariachi Divas performing throughout the weekend. Even they were all about guest interaction.

If Fiesta Disneyland was a preview of the kind of showman ship and awesome themed activities that Family Fun Weekends has to offer then we are in for a much needed treat during this off season in the park. As you may already know, this years Disneyland Resort theme is “Let the Memories Begin” and with the next several weekends ahead, I have no doubts that great memories are to be had in the park at Family Fun Weekends.

Be sure to check out this weekends Family Fun Weekend theme, “Kickin Country Weekend”. Shhhhh, there is a rumor I have heard from a few CM’s now that Toby Kieth may be performing at this weekend's event. Future themes include; Character Fan Days, Happy Lunar New Year Festival and Mardi Gras which will be held in New Orleans Square. Click Here to see details on these events.
