Disneyland Date Night

I have been married for over 10 years, and my wife and I have always seen how important a good date night is.  So I thought I would write this to tell you my Favorite Disneyland Date.  First off, this will be written from a male’s perspective and should be read as such.

The secret to pulling off a great Disneyland date is the right amount of preparation.  You want the evening to go smoothly without feeling too structured.  No man or woman wants to feel like they’re being led around on a leash, but with crowds, shows and attractions, you can easily get frustrated without a game plan.  When planing your Disneyland Date pick your restaurant first, and decide whether it will be a Downtown Disney location or one located in the hotels or parks.  This will help you select attractions to visit just prior to your reservation time.

Speaking of reservations, the number for Disney Dinning reservations is (714) 781-3463.  With this number you can make reservations for all table service restaurants in Disneyland,  Disney’s California Adventure,  the Grand Californian Hotel and Spa,  the Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel.  Don’t discount the restaurants in the hotels!  If you book a reservation in a hotel restaurant you gain access to the hotel itself and valet parking which can add a more exclusive feel to the evening.

My personal favorite is Steak House 55 located in The Disneyland Hotel.  I don’t see it as just the best restaurant in the resort, but one of the top in Orange County.  However, it is pricey, and you can easily spend 50 dollars a plate or more.  The classic early Hollywood decor, and the walls adorned with film stars and celebrities from the past really set the mood for a great meal.  Their wine selection is ample and lists wines in various price ranges.  The menu is a classic steakhouse menu, but don’t let the simplicity fool you, you’re in for one of the best steaks in the West coast.

Afterwards, stroll the halls of the Disneyland Hotel to continue the nostalgic vibe, or take a short walk to the Monorail to Tomorrowland.  If the date is going well you can always just stroll the shops of Down Town Disney or walk through The Grand Californian Hotel and Spa.  If fireworks are in your plans--and yes I mean the ones put on by Disney-- be sure you make your dinner reservation no later that about 7:15pm, or you might miss the show. Over the next few weeks I will outline more date ideas with a wide range of themes and budgets.
