Disneyland:Around the Park 4/14/2011
Another hustly, bustly, spring break day at Disneyland. Almost all entry gates open and still a little bit of a line formed at each turnstile. After stepping past the entry gate and into the park, the sun strangely got much brighter and the blue skies morning battle with the clouds and fog began to show promise of its ultimate victory. Main Street consistently looked ready to bust at the seams for most of the day.
On such a crowd induced day, enjoying attractions was not a priority for this weeks park update. Instead I focused more on a visual discovery and appreciation for the sights and beauty that induce the magic. Only a few noticeable changes in the park that need to be noted this week.
Emporiums decorative façade tarp has been removed revealing a clutter of scaffolding and a black mesh covering. Walls are still surrounding this portion of the building making Main Street appear to be somewhat cluttered and congested.
Some stores on Main Street have been subtly decorated in spring and Easter themed colors and ornaments. Vibrantly colored flowers and plants have been placed throughout the park and are in full bloom emanating the true sights and smells of spring.
Start Tours has been un-tarped as well, revealing a clean and bright new sign. Star trader is still closed off but you can hear work still going on inside when walking by. Splash Mountain is still sporting the scaffolding on the flume and men at work, working hard daily. One big noticeable irritation is the line for Buzz Lightyear attraction, which now always has a good 20-25 minute wait due to the subtraction of its fast pass distribution option. River of America has a bright green tinge to its water, which although it looks rather nasty I personally prefer the green to the brown it gets towards the end of the summer season.
We have a good 3 weeks left of spring break season and I for one plan on enjoying the park during the 4 weeks prior to summer season. I always find myself so fortunate to be an annual pass member during these peak season periods. If you are also a member, it’s definitely worth it to mingle within the crowds if only to enjoy the spring fling sights and smells within the park. Want a preview? See ya next week!!!
