A Vegetarian’s take on Six Flags Magic Mountain
When you think “theme park food”, what comes to mind? For most people, visions of chicken fingers and hamburgers are dancing through their heads. Well, being a long time theme park lover and pretty strict vegetarian, I get a different idea. Some parks make finding options very easy by listing menus on websites, and having a FAQ section with contact information to get the best advice for your personal nutrition needs. Upon doing some research, I learned that finding this kind of information for Six Flags Magic Mountain proved to be quite difficult! The website gives very little information about food other than where it is located and what the name of the establishment is.
Here are some options for vegetarian/vegan options at the park:
1. Pizza- Six Flags partners with the Papa John’s franchise, so any pizza location throughout the park can provide you with a cheese pizza and breadsticks. No known vegan options are available at these locations, except a side salad, and again, the dressing ingredients are unknown, so dine at your own risk here.
2. French Fries- You wouldn’t think of fries as a meal normally, but let me tell you, at this park, they are a way of life for some vegans. There is this pretty amazing little cart called “fresh cut fries” across from the Goliath coaster. The fries are made with all veggie oil, so they are vegan. You can also get them smothered in cheese if you are ok with dairy!
3. Sushi- There is a little sushi counter in the Food, ect food court located next to Goliath. They sell vegan avocado rolls that aren’t half bad!
4. Panda Express- I know, you may think you’re reading this wrong, but Panda Express has a location inside the park near the X2 coaster. All the menu items are the same, and since Panda switched from chicken oil to vegetable oil in their cooking, you can feel free to order any combo of rice, chow mein, egg rolls, veggies, and tofu.
5. Mexican Grill- The mexican grill located near Riddler’s Revenge can make a bean burrito with a corn tortilla and fresh salsa. Pretty tasty, and vegan too!
There are also some great snacks in the park such as Dippin Dots ice cream carts, pickles, fresh fruit, and those AMAZING funnel cakes sold near the park entrance.
If you do your research and ask lots of questions, any theme park can be fairly easy for a vegetarian to navigate!
Feel free to email me with any questions, or if you’ve got a vegetarian “hidden gem” at a local theme park that I might need to check out!
In peace, love, and tofu,
Lacey, your veggie loving merch girl
